About the Department
NICAS CENTRAL LIBRARY
The
library of Noorul Islam College of Arts & Science started functioning on
the 8th of July 2002 on the new campus. The primary aim of the library is to
stimulated and promote among the students reading habits, thereby to enrich
their knowledge that in turn would ensure their self-development and self-confidence.
The library has a good collection of
more than 8699 books as till date, including newly published 800 prestigious
reference books in various disciplines. It also subscribed 25
periodicals including 15 National and International Journals in the area of
Life Science, Computer Science, Visual Communication, Management, Literature,
Competitive and General Studies. The
members of NICAS library refer and use more than 1000 books a month. We provide all leading National and Regional
Dailies in different languages.
All
Books and data are computerized and the library has a computer based catalogue
along with a manual catalogue. Books are
classified under DDC 20th edition.
We provide separate facilities for E- Resource access, Question Bank and
Back Volume Reference. The college provides a separate session for a library hour
for all students both UG and PG. NICAS
Library and NICE Library jointly organize book fair cum sales every semester
and the leading publishers and distributors participate in the fair. It encourages
the student community to develop reading habits and purchase their own books at
a discount rate. Every year the
department of the library honors the best library user with an award.
